Orphans
Ok, quick! I've been down in the basement most of the day, and I'm getting tired. (brain tired, that is). This is turning into quite the project for me. I have taken blocks away, I've added some blocks, cut some blocks apart and have blocks on stand by. I've sewn, and un-sewn, and my brain is kaput...Vacation at the beach is fast approaching! And I'm thinking maybe I need to set this aside until I return from vacation? Some mindless sewing is in order for the next few day's, and beach walks, and beach dreams will help me figure this one out.
A very wise friend's advised "Remember, it doesn't have to be all symmetrical..." Why is that such a big, mighty statement for me?~
Maybe I'll try to move some things around and add some of the cut up blocks I have left. I also moved my design wall to the floor, since this was a little wider than my design wall is. My Man doesn't like it when I stick pins in the wall. Go figure?!

Sewing Orphan Blocks...
In an attempt to help my guild out, I decided to take home some "orphan blocks" that were brought to my quilt guilds meeting last Wednesday. Trying to challenage myself to get outside of my comfort zone , and do more for my guild. These are the blocks on the design floor at the meeting.
Loved the pink & purple, sampler in my future. Now I'm not so sure. That center medallion is so "stretchy", and I am trying to get added on sashing's to relieve some of that. All the while crossing my fingers that it will work. Who ever ends up quilting this does not want all that "ripple" to try to quilt.

Elfrieda and I put these together on this design floor. |
Deciding that the 12 1/2 inch blocks could go as corner squares, (thank you Cappy) I came home and put these on my design wall.
So, some sewing has been done, and hopefully I can get it together. I have some orphan blocks of my own that I think might help out too. So let the sewing help me to make a beautiful quilt top for October Quilt Bingo.

Hope to have some progress pictures later this week. In the mean time, Happy Piecing.

Getting a thing or two finished.
Not a whole lot, but small, and easy are sometime enough...
I signed up for a Craftsy class, (Quilt as you go) and will now try something I have never tried, but wanted to try. Could this be a Guild Challenge? (Not a Potholder)! Maybe something a "Little more challenging"! LOL!
This Faux Fur, blanket was the June Special called "Love your Manimal" by My Lazy Daisy. So Easy kit, front and back sewn together leaving an 8inch open, turn rightside out, sew opening closed, edge stitch around whole blanket, FINISHED! EASY = ENOUGH!
Oreganata Ruffled Tea Towel complete kit #50013-C $19.95 is around Daisy's neck, and Oreganata Mini Apron #50021-C $32.95 around her waist. Daisy and I will be at "Summer Sunday Funday" at Fish Head Cantina 4802 Benson Ave., Arbutus, MD 21227 from 2PM - 6PM tomorrow June, 23...Hope to see you all too!

I'm getting things done today
Today I finally made it down to my sewing room. The intention was to finish the "Baby Girl" quilt, and find the pattern for a table topper that I have made a couple times in the past. Where oh where has my little pattern gone, oh, where oh where can it be? So while the embroidery machine was quilting away, I was looking, looking for the pattern. It's now after 6PM, and said pattern is still missing.
So while I was searching for that pattern, I found some orphan blocks. I'm not even sure when these were made. Now I have to find the magazine I found this pattern in...
So back to the old sewing machine, and a little mindless sewing while the quilt is being quilted. Dinner, lovingly perpared by my man while sewing and searching for patterns. I complete 6 strip peiced blocks, and quilting on the "Baby Mallory" quilt.
So now dinner is complete, watching National's in the top of the 11th. Minnesota just got a run 4-3 with 2 outs. LETS GO NAT'S!!!
