Off on a New Quilting Adventure

I am so excited about starting a new adventure, My Lazy Daisy is a new quilting company (just about one year old), selling fabrics, and sewing kits, and notions in the comfort of your home.  (kinda like a Tupperware party).  I have my kit, and plans to set up a Trunk Show at my quilt Guilds annual quilt show in March. http://www.southerncomforters.org  I'm almost finished with the cute party table topper.  It's a top, batting, & backing on my sewing room floor resting together waiting for me to pin baste for quilting.

Home from retreat and a surprise!

Well I'm home from a fun filled four days of sewing, laughing with friends, chocolate, a little crying and very little sleep.  2013 "Tropical" Retreat was such fun!  Packing up to go home, not so much fun, but upon walking into the house my man had a big surprise for me.  He painted the living room while I was gone.

Our once Blue room is now the Green room, and I just love it.  It was time for a change, now I need to find new curtains, and an area rug and this half of the room will be finished.  For now I am so tired from my four day quilting retreat I need to call it a night.  I hope to write more about the fun and completions (not many to write about) during retreat at a later time.  So for now, happy piecing to you.

I rather be outside playing

It's a beautiful sunny day here in the DCMetro area. The dog wants a walk, I want to go drive the car, and I really need to finish getting ready for retreat. And to top it all off, today is Valentine's Day and I do need to plan a little something with my man later this evening. (Maybe a nice dinner for?)
Could it be nice enough for a drive with the top down?  (Heat works too!)
Most of the Guilds planned projects for retreat this week-end.
Packing for retreat I'm getting close but there's still a lot to be done. So maybe it's a short quick walk with the dog, and then back down to pack and finish the laundry. Happy valentines Day, XOXOXO

Well, getting ready for retreat has been put on hold, breakfast/Brunch out at Nautilus Diner in Crofton this morning before going to the bank to get vacation deed notarized. (Yipee!) This is the second deed, the dog chewed the first one, (long story).

Followed by a 3 mile afternoon walk with the dog, and a 2.50 mile run on the treadmill.  It was cold and windy out, but we had a good pace which got my blood moving so not too bad at all.

All of my mystery fabric is chosen and washed.  Just need to pre-cut.  Big bag fabric is washed and ready for pre-cutting.  Now just spending a quiet evening with the "Man" who cooked an outstanding chicken dinner in the crockpot, watching movies and Chopped all with a roaring fire in the fireplace.  How could I go down in the basement with all this going on?

The past couple weeks I have also been thinking about our guilds quilt show http://www.southerncomforters.org.  I am not entering a quilt this year, but I would like to put some crafts for sale in our Comforters Keepsake Store, and cleaning out my sewing room for things I no longer use for our Out of the Attic Store also at the quilt show.

Owl Sewing Kits
These little cuties are stitching up quick in the embroidery hoop, with small amounts of fabric, and they are about 5-6 inches tall.  Left & Right owls standing in the back row are finished.  The other 3 need stuffing, buttons, and whipped stitched opening closed.

Tomorrow is a new day, and I should get some things done then.  I'm really looking forward to our Presidents Day Week-end Retreat.

Retreat Month!

February, the month of Love and Retreat is already here?  Where does the time go?  I've been spending time down in the dungeon (aka my sewing room), and at Joann Fabric trying to get myself ready for my Quilt Guilds Fall Retreat.  My Guild has it's annual Fall Retreat over Presidents' Day weekend, where 35 women bring our sewing machines, and sew, eat, laugh, sew, eat, laugh, and sleep once in a while.   This year we will arrive on Friday February 15th in the afternoon, and leave Monday, February 18th in the afternoon.  There are lots of activities planned, (Big Bag Lady Bag, Pincushion, and a Mystery Quilt to name a few) and this years theme is Tropical, and we are giving a tropical fabric to make blocks with. These blocks will be raffled off on Sunday.  I am copying my friend Mary over at Keep Me in Quilts http://keepmeinquilts.blogspot.com/2013/01/retreat-blocks.html and posting pictures of my Retreat Blocks.

I'm really looking forward to our "Tropical Retreat", and all the sewing, and fun with my fellow retreating friends.  So, happy February, and happy piecing.
Me.
