Embroidery for a friend and a Little Buddy

Like Mother, Like Daughter

A Nap Mat
These two Hot Pink Nike shirts were embroidered for my friend Terri over at Quilts from the Heart. http://quiltsfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2014/11/american-fitness-half-marathon.html She and her dautghter ran a Half Marathon on Saturday, way to go ladies!  And Jackson's nap mat is sure to be a favorite for my little buddy at Pre School.  He play's hard and appreciates his nap time.  I also finished a couple pages for a Shape book for Sharon's Great Granddaughter.  (No picture's until the book is finished.)

Today was a cold day in the DMV, and a no sewing day so we could go to the Redskins game at FedEx field.  After that debacle...I wish I'd stayed home and sewed.  But the National Anthem and Air Force F16 fly over was the best part of the day!

Amazing.
We heard and saw the jet's on the big screen, but since it was so overcast I didn't think I could get a good picture so put my phone back in my pocket.  What a feeling to see those jet's soar overhead.

Tomorow is another day, and I will (hopefully) get some sewing in after work.

Happy piecing,
Sheila

Quilting in the Embroidery Hoop

So here it is, a finish!  Happy Dance happening here at my house.  I feel like it's been ages since I last finished a quilt. After reading older blog post I know that it was April since I finished one.  This is a small 34" X 34" baby quilt that was made from a charm pack and Kona Snow that I got at https://www.blogger.com/home Spring Water Designs in Columbia Maryland.

Before Binding

After Binding

The Quilting was done in the embroidery hoop on my PR1000E.  The designs were from Amelie Scott's Edge to Edge Quilting on your Embroidery Machine http://ameliescott.com/Home_Page.html I love the way it turned out.

Close up of quilting

Now I'm looking for the next smallish quilt to finish, to pratice more quilting designs in the embroidery hoop.
Happy quilting, happy quilting,

Sheila

Why did the Geese cross the road?

Today was a perfect day to sew, but...A friend called me this morning asking me if I could come over and "help her get her geese back into her yard"!  Sometime during the night they had wandered across the street, probably spooked by something unknown.  We will never know why they left the yard.

25 Geese
This picture isn't the best, I was holding a baby, and trying to record the herding of the geese!  They are all safe and sound in their own yard.  So nice of the Policemen who came and blocked the road so the geese could get safely back across the street.

After that excitement I did get a couple small finishes done today.
South of the Border quilt top finished

A couple more 8 1/2 in. strip blocks, finished
It's not much, but a small finish is better than no finish.

Happy piecing, happy sewing,
Sheila

Battery Recharge

Ocean City 2014
Ocean City 2014 Timeshare week 40 has come and gone...
How time flys when you're having fun!  And what a wonderful week it was.  Beautiful weather, great food, shopping, good company, walks on the beach and even sewing.  The only bad part of the week was my man wasn't able to make it this year.  (Someone has to work)!  My week started last Friday, October 3rd thru today October 10th.  Though I came home a day early so I could spend a little time with my man before he had to leave out of town, again for work.  Our poor dog Remy, misses her man too.  I took her for a 2 mile walk this morning, but when he, and I left to go pick up the rental car she was one unhappy dog!

Remy Girl

My first full day on Saturday I got out to walk on the beach, I would have taken lots of picture's except my I-Phone S4 is in need of a new battery, but since my contract is up, and the I-Phone 6 plus is in my very close future I will not be purchasing a new battery for this slow dying phone.  I am only able to do one thing at a time, and picture taking "Kills" the battery.  And I brought my little Nikon Coolpix, but not the right charger for the Coolpix battery, so this is the only picture I took on Saturday!  (I thought I was being so smart bringing that little camera!)

What the heck it it? Blowfish?

I think he was a blowfish, (but sad to say he is dead) he had little spikes all over his body.  Right after I took the picture my phone died too. :-(  After my walk on Saturday I had a late lunch with friends at The Tap House on 45th St.  Good friends, and food.  It was a bit windy, and cool, but as long as the sun was out is was lovely.  Missed the Corvette Parade on the Boardwalk this year, but no worries. They'll be back again next year.

Good Friends, Good Food.

So on Sunday, finally, I have someone to enjoy this beautiful week with.  My youngest daughter came down to spend a few days with me.

Me and my Beautiful Baby Girl

Walking, Shopping, Cooking, and just unwinding and enjoying each others company.  (P.S. Wear Sunscreen.)! I did get sunburned on our 5 mile walk.

And then with all the beach fun, and sun evenings brought sewing into my world.

Norma Campbell's South of the Border
Almost finished this, sewed the side borders on, but didn't like how they lined up so picked them out, and will finish them this weekend at home.
Hour Glass units
These hour glass units are for the Anniversary quilt top.  Every year on the Anniversary of my quilt guild there is an Anniversary quilt top and one luck member can win it, members sew the units for the anniversary top.  Maybe 2015 will be the winning year for me.

My current Leader Ender blocks are 8 1/2inch unfinished strip pieced blocks.  I have a lot of these finished blocks.  Maybe someday they will be a quilt.
Strip pieced Leader Ender blocks

So after my week at the beach my battery is recharged, and with Autum here I'm ready to finish some of the many UFO's (unfinished objects) on my to do list.

Happy piecing, happy sewing,

Sheila

Getting things done

Getting things done lately for me hasn't been easy.  Summer ending, way too soon for (me anyway), and getting back into a routine with time management isn't my strong suit.  I got my Brother PR 1000 ten needle embroidery machine that I talked about here. https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6607730719841706314#editor/target=post;postID=6867215754255438753;onPublishedMenu=posts;onClosedMenu=posts;postNum=5;src=postname And I love getting to know that machine.  A baby shower, a birthday celebration, spending time with my adorable Grandson's, work, garding and least we forget FOOBALL all vying for my time, and attention.  There have been a few warmer days and the pool at my Mother in Laws also calls my name.  So that I was able to finish a couple things is a huge surprise to me.
Shape book for a Baby Shower
This shape book was a free pattern at Joanne's the pattern called for grommets, and ribbons to tie it together, I wanted a handle for mine.  I love the way it turned out, and would like to make more (someday).
Glamour Rocks for the Birthday girl
I really like the way this turned out, my new PR embroidery machine made this so easy to finish.  The birthday girls name is on the front.
Pool fun with the Grandson's
Pool fun with the Grandson's
A weekend spent with these two is always full of fun, and laughs.  I can't get enough of them!
Stewed Tomatoe's
These stewed tomatoe's were made from my mans hard, loving work in the garden.  I can hardly wait to make some Chili with those baby's.
Season opener
A win for the home team!  Sad that RG3 dislocated his ankle, and will be out for the season.

It has been over a month since I last blogged, so I apologize for the long post.  I was busy getting things done.

Thank you for stopping by.  Happy Piecing,

Sheila

The Ocean

There is nothing like being by the Ocean for the soul, the mind, and the body.  Here we are at the beach for fun in the sun, and vacation with my two adorable Grandson's, plus two (out of three) of our young adult children, and my man are making memories yet again.  We arrived here at Ocean City, Maryland on Friday at 5:30PM, and since the pool closes at 6pm (I know, 6PM? what were they thinking?) the boy's and I headed to the beach first thing.

We are here for the week, so plans have been made for lots of adventure's to come.  I will blog with more later (hopefully).

Happy piecing in the summertime, my favorite time of the year.

Spent the afternoon crafting

Not my normal crafting though, I spent the afternoon out on my deck painting and deco-podging a wooden tray.  I have been collecting cigar bands from my man's (bad habit) for quite awhile now, and always telling him I was going to make this tray for him.  Well, today was the day.  I started with this tray.
Plan wooden tray

White paint

Cigar bands for collage

Almost finished
I say almost finished because I still need to add the Mod Podge clear acrylic Hi-Shine sealer so we can start using this pretty tray.  I love the way it looks, and my man like's it too.

Now back to enjoying this beautiful afternoon.

A Romper

Well, once again it's not a quilt, but it's a finish none the less.  A shower gift for a neighbor to give as a gift made by your's truly.  I love the little trains chugging along, and the little train buttons.

Romper for a little boy
I'm happy to say this one took no time at all, and I have another one cut out and ready to sew.

Today I attended a class at Tomorrow's Treasures Quilt Shop on the the Brother PR 1000, and all the amazing thing's it can do.  I have a Brother PR 600 ll six needle machine, which I have had for quite a while now, and it's good, but I am really ready for an upgrade.  This baby has ten needles, and a camera, and lots, and lots of other amazing additions which my six needle will never be able to do.

Brother PR 1000 Ten Needle Embroidery Machine.
Love my six needle as I do, but this baby is at the top of my new wish list.

Happy piecing, happy embroidery,

Sheila
