Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is coming

My man and I prepared a feast for 4 + a little more, and enjoyed every moment of Thanksgiving.  Our daughter's and their families were not coming to our house for dinner. One family lives out of state, the other went to her mother in laws house for dinner.  I Facetimed with them both, and missed them, but know that they were here in spirit.

Seasoned and ready for the Traeger

Thanksgiving Leftover Pie was made Sunday 11/27/22, this is a great way to use up those leftovers.

Thanksgiving Leftover Pie

I have been sewing, but mostly working on Christmas presents so I can't show pictures yet. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and Black Friday shopping (if that's your thing).

Bonnie Hunter's Mystery started on Black Friday I wasn't planning on doing the mystery until I saw the colors.  https://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/chilhowie-mystery.htm
Purple, Aqua/Light Blue, Orange, White/Neuturals I couldn't resist.

Purple & Aqua/Light Blue

So I did make a few blocks and will see where this goes.  Until next time, (hopefully later this month).

Getting those UFO's done

This is what happens when you join a Facebook group "Quilter's in Place" doing a UFO challenge to help motivate you to finish quilts or craft project's.  At the beginning of the year you number your UFO's from 1-12. (I have way more than 12 UFO's)  Every month a new number is chosen and each month you should work on that numbered UFO.   This months number is 10.

Contra Dance
Here is another May finish! It still needs a label and binding, but I'm getting those UFO'S done, and I'm happy about that. Contra Dance has been sitting in a stack with lot's of other UFO's waiting to be a quilt or wall hanging.  Finishing is such a good feeling.

Sew until next time, happy piecing, happy sewing,

Seeing Pink in April

Ever year I follow along with RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) https://superscrappy.blogspot.com but never make any blocks.  Each month is a different color fabric to work on from your own scrap stash.  I'm a quilter, and I have plenty of scraps! I always intend to play along with the RSC, but end up following Cynthia Brunz over at Quilting is more fun than housework https://quiltingismorefunthanhousework.blogspot.com. She does more scrap busting than I can, and I enjoy seeing what she's working on.  After reading her blog I want to get sewing some, and I'm seeing Pink in April.

But as usual my mind runs wild and I decide I have to make some fabric Easter baskets,  So now  I am playing catch up to get them done by Easter next Sunday. My friend Beth Ann would be happy to see I am using batting tape to heat press my batting scraps together,

Funny though, I didn't use much of these fabric's for the eggs.

I will make the rest tomorrow.  It's past my bed time, good night.

Until next time, happy piecing, happy sewing,

Marched into and out of March!

I traveled down to North Carolina Sunday, February 27th to help out DD#1.  Here is my adorable grand-dog Mac. I stayed for a week, I wanted to stay longer, but I had a doctor's appointment scheduled on Tuesday March 8th.

Cheers to March

It was a super fun week with my daughter, grandson's, and my sister who lives nearby. I had so many plans to blog, but life got in the way and I marched into and out of March!!!  So happy April everyone.  We went to Quilt Lizzy in Jacksonville.

Quilt Lizzy

We went to this quilt shop on Friday, and bought lots of fabric. Who would have thought that would happen?! Haha!  DD bought fabric too, and when we got home we started cutting up said fabric and sewing pieces together until 1:00am.  We had such a good time laughing, cutting, sewing and just enjoying each other...

I bought a couple panel's

We went to Wilmington on Saturday, came home at around 8:00pm and finished piecing DD's quilt top!  I'm not going to lie, I am so proud of this lady here!  The past two year's have been life changing for her and my grandson's, but she has alway's stayed strong, and take's anything that is thrown at her.  Love her to the moon, my Ray of Sunshine!!

DD's finished quilt top!

I made some Shamrock candy holder's for my grandson & his classmate's when I got home.

28 total made in time for St. Paddy's Day

Poor little guy was sick on St. Patrick's Day and stayed home Thursday and Friday.  Anyway I hope they enjoyed St. Patrick's Day on Monday...These Shamrocks are made in the hoop, and they are from SmartNeedle https://smartneedle.com I really enjoyed making them.

My sister bought me the pillow...Love it!

Close up of the Shamrock candy holder

I also made several label's for friend's and guild member's quilt's.  #putalabelonit

I had some finishes back in February that I wanted to blog about, but like I said life got in the way.  Maybe in April I can blog more.

Until next time, happy piecing, happy sewing,

Tuesday, 2/22/2022 Also known as Two's Day,

I'm binding a shop sample for Spring Water Designs.

Jungle Friends Quilt

It's a good 66 1/2 X 93 1/2.  After the shop kits sell out this adorable quilt will be for my first adorable baby girl grand daughter Lydia.  She has already approved of this quilt.  Wish I had a picture of her showing it some love.

Quilt Back without the label

This is on my design wall.  You can purchase this cute quilt kit (less the backing fabric) at Spring Water Designs https://www.springwaterdesigns.com/

This is my second quilt finish of 2022, not counting one I can't show you right now. (Future blog).

Until next time, happy piecing, happy quilting,

First finish of 2022?

Football and sewing on a Sunday in January.  I am making a back for Orca Bay a Bonnie Hunter mystery from 2010, maybe?  It measure's 77 X 84 and I found a 4 1/3 yard piece in my stash that I decided will work for the back.  I normally piece my backs, so I am happy to be getting some of my bigger pieces out of my stash.  So, 5 inch leaders will be added to all four sides as instructed by Spring Water Designs https://www.springwaterdesigns.com in order to use their long arm quilting machine.  Wednesday is my scheduled day to come in and rent.  I am working regular schedule on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday this week, and then I am taking some time off for some me time.

close up of backing fabric
I have no idea where or why I bought this fabric.  I think I bought it from Seminal Sampler during their going out of business sale, so 2015?

5 inch leaders added

I'm looking forward to my first finish in 2022.
