Getting a thing or two finished.

Not a whole lot, but small, and easy are sometime enough...

Quilt as you go Potholder
Back
I signed up for a Craftsy class, (Quilt as you go) and will now try something I have never tried, but wanted to try.  Could this be a Guild Challenge? (Not a Potholder)!  Maybe something a "Little more challenging"!  LOL!

Love my Manimal
This Faux Fur, blanket was the June Special called "Love your Manimal" by My Lazy Daisy.  So Easy kit, front and back sewn together leaving an 8inch open, turn rightside out, sew opening closed, edge stitch around whole blanket, FINISHED!  EASY = ENOUGH!

Oreganata Ruffled Tea Towel complete kit #50013-C $19.95 is around Daisy's neck, and Oreganata Mini Apron #50021-C $32.95 around her waist.  Daisy and I will be at "Summer Sunday Funday" at Fish Head Cantina 4802 Benson Ave., Arbutus, MD 21227 from 2PM - 6PM tomorrow June, 23...Hope to see you all too!

I'm getting things done today

Today I finally made it down to my sewing room.  The intention was to finish the "Baby Girl" quilt, and find the pattern for a table topper that I have made a couple times in the past.  Where oh where has my little pattern gone, oh, where oh where can it be?  So while the embroidery machine was quilting away, I was looking, looking for the pattern. It's now after 6PM, and said pattern is still missing.

Quilting in the Hoop (I love your Brother Embroiderey)
So while I was searching for that pattern, I found some orphan blocks.  I'm not even sure when these were made.  Now I  have to find the magazine I found this pattern in...

Orphan Blocks unearthed...
So back to the old sewing machine, and a little mindless sewing while the quilt is being quilted.  Dinner, lovingly perpared by my man while sewing and searching for patterns.  I complete 6 strip peiced blocks, and quilting on the "Baby Mallory" quilt.

Found Orphan Blocks, and 6 strip blocks on the left.

Close up of quilting (mostly done in the hoop).
So now dinner is complete, watching National's in the top of the 11th.  Minnesota just got a run 4-3 with 2 outs.  LETS GO NAT'S!!!

Happy piecing as much as you can, (Now that Summertime is here).

So where did May (also known as My Month) go?

Also known as my month because it's Mother's Day, our Anniversary, and my Birthday all rolled into the month of May which make it so.  My month has flown by way too quickly, but thats the way (Love) it goes.    The weather has been crazy this month, up one day, down the next.  But it seems to be going out with a "ROAR"!  90 degrees for the last three days of the month make it so... DSIL has a landscaping business so I have been watching the littlest Grandson during the day and then going to pick up my BFF Grandson from school, so not much sewing has been getting done around here.

View from our table at Hemmingway Restaurant Stevensville,   MD.
Mothers Day, May 12th was also "My Man and my Wedding Anniversary", so on Mother's Day, my fabulous children made a wonderful brunch for me and their father.  What's not to love about that?

6 Day's later here come's my Birthday, and more Celebration.  (Did I mention, May is my Month?)  Dinner was made for me in my honor, complete with song and cake.

Oh to be 25 again...

Very little quilting has been happening here I'm sad to report.  But I thought I should exit my Birthday month with what I can.  I have made it down to my sewing room a couple times and here's all I got.

A Bingo Quilt
These quilt blocks were made by Charlotte's Mom (a fellow quilt guild/quilt bee member).  I plan to make a quilt for my guilds "quilt bingo" coming up in October.  Fun time, I'll post more at a later date.

Sewing the Binding on a "Baby Girl Quilt"
Almost finished baby quilt for a Friend of DD's that she has know since middle school.  Completed picture to be posted later, still have some quilting to do, but I'm happy to say that the binding is on.

Petal Pusher's Kit & Freedom Party Banner Kit

This week-end I have plans to work on my "My Lazy Dasiy" Trunk Show items for my next scheduled  in home party on June 8th.  Looking forward to seeing Kathy and her friends next Saturday.
In the mean time, happy piecing, and welcome summer.

Quiting the Quilt

Today was a beautiful day here in the DC/Metro area.  Got up this morning and drove to VA to pick up my man who has been working for the last two weeks there.  He dropped off his rental car and needed a ride home.  My youngest daughter drove with me.  On the way back home we stopped off at Marchones in Wheaton Triangle for lunch, the best cold cut subs in the area.  From there we went to Sligo Creek Trail and ate our yummy subs on a picnic table in the beautiful sunshine.  Then driving home throuh Takoma Park, looking at all the neat houses, and neat little shops on main street.  I need to go back there, park the car and walk around for a better view.

Quilting the Quilt for about an hour before dinner makes this a really good day.

Front of Baby Quilt

I pieced the back, and even pieced the batting.

Happy Month of May, and happy piecing,

Putting on my dancing shoe's!

Roll out the barrel, strike up the band!   I'm putting on my dancing shoe's so I can do the happy dance!  My Old Tobacco Road top in finished!!

Old Tobacco Road

Coner's are not the same as Bonnie's
I am so excited to finally have this finished.  I started it as a mystery with Bonnie Hunter, (back in September 2008) but just wasn't feeling it until I put the flying geese unit's on.  Now it's not as bad as I thought.  It's pretty big (83" 1/2 X 100").  I will need to peice the back since I ended up using the cupcake fabric for the border, and now have a pretty big hunk of the fence fabric that I auditioned in my last post.  Thank you quiltermary over at http://keepmeinquilts.blogspot.com and Mary over at http://mary-the-sailor.blogspot.com you helped me see.  http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/old-tobacco-road-intro.html This is a link to Old Tobacco Road if you want to try it too.
So I am off to the basement to get to work on the back.  Happy piecing to me and to you.
Sheila
