Quilting in the Embroidery Hoop

So here it is, a finish!  Happy Dance happening here at my house.  I feel like it's been ages since I last finished a quilt. After reading older blog post I know that it was April since I finished one.  This is a small 34" X 34" baby quilt that was made from a charm pack and Kona Snow that I got at https://www.blogger.com/home Spring Water Designs in Columbia Maryland.

After Binding

The Quilting was done in the embroidery hoop on my PR1000E.  The designs were from Amelie Scott's Edge to Edge Quilting on your Embroidery Machine http://ameliescott.com/Home_Page.html I love the way it turned out.

Now I'm looking for the next smallish quilt to finish, to pratice more quilting designs in the embroidery hoop.
Happy quilting, happy quilting,

Sheila

Why did the Geese cross the road?

Today was a perfect day to sew, but...A friend called me this morning asking me if I could come over and "help her get her geese back into her yard"!  Sometime during the night they had wandered across the street, probably spooked by something unknown.  We will never know why they left the yard.

25 Geese
This picture isn't the best, I was holding a baby, and trying to record the herding of the geese!  They are all safe and sound in their own yard.  So nice of the Policemen who came and blocked the road so the geese could get safely back across the street.

After that excitement I did get a couple small finishes done today.

A couple more 8 1/2 in. strip blocks, finished
It's not much, but a small finish is better than no finish.

Happy piecing, happy sewing,
Sheila

Battery Recharge

Ocean City 2014
Ocean City 2014 Timeshare week 40 has come and gone...
How time flys when you're having fun!  And what a wonderful week it was.  Beautiful weather, great food, shopping, good company, walks on the beach and even sewing.  The only bad part of the week was my man wasn't able to make it this year.  (Someone has to work)!  My week started last Friday, October 3rd thru today October 10th.  Though I came home a day early so I could spend a little time with my man before he had to leave out of town, again for work.  Our poor dog Remy, misses her man too.  I took her for a 2 mile walk this morning, but when he, and I left to go pick up the rental car she was one unhappy dog!

Remy Girl

My first full day on Saturday I got out to walk on the beach, I would have taken lots of picture's except my I-Phone S4 is in need of a new battery, but since my contract is up, and the I-Phone 6 plus is in my very close future I will not be purchasing a new battery for this slow dying phone.  I am only able to do one thing at a time, and picture taking "Kills" the battery.  And I brought my little Nikon Coolpix, but not the right charger for the Coolpix battery, so this is the only picture I took on Saturday!  (I thought I was being so smart bringing that little camera!)

What the heck it it? Blowfish?

I think he was a blowfish, (but sad to say he is dead) he had little spikes all over his body.  Right after I took the picture my phone died too. :-(  After my walk on Saturday I had a late lunch with friends at The Tap House on 45th St.  Good friends, and food.  It was a bit windy, and cool, but as long as the sun was out is was lovely.  Missed the Corvette Parade on the Boardwalk this year, but no worries. They'll be back again next year.

Good Friends, Good Food.

So on Sunday, finally, I have someone to enjoy this beautiful week with.  My youngest daughter came down to spend a few days with me.

Me and my Beautiful Baby Girl

Walking, Shopping, Cooking, and just unwinding and enjoying each others company.  (P.S. Wear Sunscreen.)! I did get sunburned on our 5 mile walk.

And then with all the beach fun, and sun evenings brought sewing into my world.

Norma Campbell's South of the Border
Almost finished this, sewed the side borders on, but didn't like how they lined up so picked them out, and will finish them this weekend at home.
Hour Glass units
These hour glass units are for the Anniversary quilt top.  Every year on the Anniversary of my quilt guild there is an Anniversary quilt top and one luck member can win it, members sew the units for the anniversary top.  Maybe 2015 will be the winning year for me.

My current Leader Ender blocks are 8 1/2inch unfinished strip pieced blocks.  I have a lot of these finished blocks.  Maybe someday they will be a quilt.

So after my week at the beach my battery is recharged, and with Autum here I'm ready to finish some of the many UFO's (unfinished objects) on my to do list.

Happy piecing, happy sewing,

Sheila
