Weekend family time and sewing

Weekend family time was a trip down to the "Newseum"in Washington, DC.  And let me just say "Fun, fun, fun"  We meet up here at the house, took the Metro down to DC. The first picture is of Moni and the boys on the Metro, the second is little Jackson, he really enjoyed his first ride on the Metro.   At every stop his little feet just went in circles.  He wanted to get a movin!

Here is the Capitol from the 6th floor of the Newseum, an awesome place for sure. The street below is Pennsylvania Ave, can you say Parade?
And then the center building is the Supreme  Court House where number one son works at.
The 4D Theater is such fun.  I didn't want it to end,  watching Nicholas, watching the movie was a plus. He reached out for the bubbles just like I did.  He told me at the end that he was a little scared, but not too scared! He fell asleep on the Metro ride home but thank goodness for Pop, who carried him sleeping out to the car!  He stayed asleep on the way home.  (at least that's what Mommy told me.) Here is the last picture I took before going down to Metro for the journey home.  The sun was shining and we had a wonderful day.
When I got home I wanted to get in a little sewing in before we headed to Brian Boru Irish Restaurant for some live music from a friend in a little duet group. Danielle Bizier Massarin's voice is hypnotic!  I did get some sewing in betweet home and Brian Boru Irish Restaurat and hoping to get more done tomorrow Sunday (which is really now as I write this blog).  I wanted to finish up step one of Orca Bay, but "life" got in the way and I'm Ok with that.  The weekend was a  blast and I wouldn't change it for "nothin"!!  Happy piecing to you all!

The Color Purple

Yesterday during my walk with my Remy girl, I had to pause my Nike + to take this pictrue.  It was a beautiful sunny day with mild temps no leaves on the trees, mostly gray are normal colors of winter. So when I saw this I just had to take a picture.  It made me smile knowing that Spring is just around the corner.
Happy piecing to you!

Quilting Nan: On my Design Wall

On my Design Wall

I'm finishing up the back for Roll Roll Cotton Boll, and using Orca Bay as my leader/ender quilt.  This is what I have so far 100 quarter square's (only 124 to go) and 40 blue strip pieced square's (only 25 blue square's to go).  This past week-end was perfect for sewing and that's just what I did.  I did take a break to go to the Sports & Learning Center to sell raffle tickets for my Quilt Guilds raffle quilt. Visit our guild site for a picture and show date's http://www.southerncomforters.org/bingo2010.html Nice little break, but "baby it's cold outside"! I got home in time to watch the playoff games, my teams didn't win:( and sew some more.  Well, I'm off to the basement for a little sewing, need to walk the dog and go visit Mom today too, so I best get moving.  Happy piecing!

Quilting on the side

Yesterday, Friday the 13th me and Hubby had our two Grandson's spend the night with us.  So, Mommy & Daddy could have a little together time.  During naptimes I grabbed a little sewing time, didn't get much done, but feel good with the stolen moments at my machine.  The boy's keep us super busy with non-stop action, lots of wii, and kids movies.  The boy's and I are waitting for warmer weather, plans were made today for future outings.  My quilt guild had a sewing day today at our local library that I had planned on going to, but alsa that didn't happen since the boys were here most of the afternoon.  I wanted to get the back for "Roll, Roll, Cotton Bowl finished or close to finished.  Oh well there is always tomorrow.  Wish me luck, and "Happy piecing to you all"!

Well since this blog is going to be about quilting, I thought it fitting to post a picture of my first finish of 2012.  This is the Bonnie Hunter quiltville.blogspot.comMystery from last year Roll Roll Cotton Bowl.  I really wanted to finish it before the new Mystery started "Orca Bay", but that didn't happen.  Oh well, I'm pretty proud of myself for the finish.  Now I need to get it quilted, I normally quilt my quilts, but this is way too big for me to try.   I will at least get the binding together so when it's quilted I can get that done.

Better late than never "Happy New Year"!

January 8th, and I'm going to give this blogging thing a try.  I can't promise that I'll blog everyday, and I don't even know if anyone will even read this thing, but what the heck.  Teri and Amy are my inspiration for getting this blog started back up.  I created the blog back in 2008, but chickened out before I even got it started.  So, ready or not here I come!:~) Taking it one day at a time.
